7th Decennial International Conference on Solidification Processing

8–12 August 2027 · Beaumont Estate, Old Windsor, UK

Join leading researchers and industry practitioners for the premier decennial forum on solidification processing — casting, crystal growth, and advanced materials manufacturing.

Welcome Message

On behalf of the organising committee, I am delighted to invite you to the 7th Decennial Conference on Solidification Processing (SP27), to be held at the Beaumont Estate, Old Windsor, UK, from 8–12 August 2027.

This conference series began in 1967 and has, for 60 years, provided a unique decennial forum for the solidification community. SP17, held at the same venue, was a great success — and we look forward to building on that momentum once again.

We stand at a turning point — moving from a take-make-dispose linear economy towards a sustainable circular economy, and rethinking how metallic materials are sourced, formulated, and deployed.

SP27 will bring together the pioneers of solidification research — many of whom are now retiring — and a new generation of researchers and casting engineers. We invite both to share their views on the opportunities that lie ahead.

I am looking forward to seeing you at SP27 in Old Windsor.

Scope of the Conference

SP27 covers all aspects of solidification and casting of all metals and related materials, from fundamentals to applications, including welding and additive manufacturing. Although this series of conferences has a tradition of focusing on metallic materials, we welcome contributions from research communities involving solidification/crystallisation of other materials systems. In addition to the usual contributions that report research outcomes, we encourage contributions that accounts for what happened in the past and perspectives to look into the future.

Abstract Submission

The conference will feature both oral and poster contributions. You are invited to submit your abstract(s) with a clear indication of your preference for an oral or poster presentation.

First deadline for submission of abstracts (for inclusion in proceedings): 1st November 2026.

Abstract for Poster only can be submitted before 1st July 2027.

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words, and the submission should include a suitable title and names, affiliations and e-mail addresses of all authors. Maximum 1 figure can be included in the abstract to illustrate the key results

Proceedings

All submitted papers will be subject to a light review for suitability, and the accepted papers will be published in “Proceedings of the 7th Decennial International Conferences on Solidification Processing”, which will be available for the delegates at the conference.

The instructions to authors can be found at www.sp27.org. Papers should not exceed 6 A4 pages and must be prepared using the template provided. To facilitate the editorial process, every effort should be made to follow closely the specifications described in the template.
